Survey software pricing and survey software cost compared

Survey software costs about $39 to $300 a month for a small team, but the sticker price tells you little. What decides the bill is how many people need access and how many responses you collect. Per-user tools such as Alchemer and QuestionPro grow with every seat. Asked charges per workspace from $49 a month with seats included, and every plan reads open answers, including voice and video, into themes.

The three pricing models behind survey software cost

Survey vendors sell in three ways, and mixing them up is how teams overpay.

  • Per user. You buy a license for each person who builds or reads surveys. Cheap for a single analyst, costly when product, support and HR all want in.
  • Per workspace. One price, a set number of seats, with caps on surveys and responses. The bill stays flat as more colleagues open the report.
  • Quote only. Enterprise suites. You describe your needs and sales prices it, usually as an annual contract.

Respondents never need a license in any of these. The people you survey answer through a link.

Asked Business $299 a month ($149 billed yearly) 15 10,000 a month Per workspace

Prices and limits were read from each vendor's public pricing page in October 2026. They change often, so confirm current plans before you buy. SurveyMonkey and Typeform also publish tiered plans with response caps, and the figures shown vary by billing period and region, so we have left them out of the table rather than guess.

How seats change the price

Take a five-person team that all need to read survey results. On QuestionPro Team Edition that is five licenses at $83 a month each, $415 a month billed annually. On Alchemer Professional, listed at $165 a month per user with a cap of 3 users, five people do not fit and you move up to a quote. On Asked Growth the same five people cost $129 a month and share one workspace.

The numbers flip for a solo researcher. One QuestionPro Advanced license at $99 a month or one Alchemer Collaborator at $55 is cheaper than a workspace plan if nobody else will ever open the report. Count readers, not builders.

Response caps and what happens past them

Every plan has a ceiling. QuestionPro Advanced lists 25,000 responses a year and Team Edition 100,000. Asked lists 500, 2,500 and 10,000 responses a month on Starter, Growth and Business. Do the arithmetic for your busiest month. A post-purchase NPS survey sent to 3,000 customers a month with a 20 percent response rate is 600 responses, which fits Starter at 500 only until you grow.

Ask each vendor what happens at the cap: a block, a nudge to upgrade, or an overage fee. That answer matters more than a ten dollar price gap.

The cost most price tables hide, reading open answers

A form builder at $39 a month collects comments. Someone still has to read them. At 500 open answers a month, reading, tagging and summarizing takes a person many hours, and that time has a salary attached.

Asked includes transcripts for voice and video, theme grouping with sentiment, quotes linked to every theme and a one-page summary on every plan. If your surveys are mostly ratings and choices, you may not need that and a cheaper form tool will do. If the value is in the open answers, count the hours saved as part of the price. See AI survey analysis for how it works.

Which pricing fits which team

  • One analyst running research projects with logic and statistics. A per-user research tool such as Alchemer or QuestionPro fits, and a flat workspace plan adds little. See our notes on Alchemer and QuestionPro as alternatives.
  • A team of three to fifteen across product, CX and HR who read results together. A per-workspace plan with seats included is usually cheaper. Compare it on Asked pricing.
  • A business that mainly needs a contact form or a simple poll. A form builder such as Jotform is enough. Our guide to Jotform alternatives covers where it stops fitting.
  • A large company with procurement, SSO and a central insights team. Expect a quote. The Qualtrics alternatives guide lists what to compare.

When you have the results, the next job is often explaining them to leadership. A tool like docslide.com can turn a findings report into a slide deck, so the quotes you collected end up in front of the people who decide.

How much does survey software cost?

Self-serve survey software runs from about $39 to $300 a month for a small team. Per-user tools such as Alchemer ($55 to $275 a month) and QuestionPro ($99 per user per month billed annually) climb with every seat. Flat workspace plans such as Asked ($49 to $299 a month) include seats. Enterprise suites are sold by quote.

Is there a per-user or per-workspace price for survey software?

Both exist. Alchemer and QuestionPro price per user, so five people cost five licenses. Asked prices per workspace with seats included, 5 on Growth at $129 a month. Per-user pricing is cheaper for one analyst, per-workspace pricing is cheaper once several teams read the results.

What is the cheapest paid survey software?

Entry paid plans start around $39 a month on form builders such as Jotform Bronze and $49 on Asked Starter. The cheapest plan is only a good deal if response limits, seats and analysis fit your volume. Check what happens past the cap before you pick on price alone.

Why do survey tools charge per response?

Response caps tie price to the cost of storing and processing answers, and they let vendors sell bigger plans to heavy users. Voice and video answers cost more to transcribe, so check whether transcripts and AI analysis count against a limit or are included on every plan.

What should I check before buying survey software?

Check seats, response limits per month or year, whether open answers are analyzed automatically, whether voice and video are supported, and whether monthly or annual billing sets the price shown. Then ask what a thirty-person team would pay in total, not what one user pays.
